The hand-built advantage
Every dedicated server is built and soak-tested in our own offices.
At Bytemark we source all our server components from several of the UK's major wholesalers, allowing us to pick the best possible performance and value for our customers. After soak-testing new systems before delivery, we then install them into our generously-equipped racks which feature remote power control and access to the serial port. Finally we also supply a complete network boot and rescue environment so you're never stuck if you need to rescue or reimage your system.
No RAID, no deal
From 2009 we decided that friends don't let friends use servers without RAID. So now all our systems come with 2 mirrored drives, insulating you from the most common cause of server failure, a broken drive. You still need backups to guard against fat fingers or malicious damage, which is why we also supply free backup space with all our servers.
Still easy to use
Despite their high power, our dedicated servers still use our easy to use control system which means you can administer them by simply dragging and dropping files from your desktop.
You also get full control via our console shell so that even if your server gets stuck, you don't need to wait for a reboot or reinstallation.
Linux or Windows
Our dedicated servers can support a variety of popular Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian or CentOS). Alternatively from only £15 per month, you can run Microsoft Windows (Read more about Windows options). So whatever your application, our dedicated servers will run them without a hitch.
Easy to use
Even though we give you root access, you don't need to be a Linux wizard to use our hosting. Your server appears as a hard drive, right on your desktop, and you can drag your files online with a sweep of the mouse.
