The Bytemark Network

Bytemark operates its own network under AS number 35425. We are fully multi-homed, receiving full transit from different suppliers as well as partial feeds and peering from others.

Data Centres and internal connectivity

We are present in the following datacentres for connectivity purposes:

In London we have both a diverse dark fibre ring between Meridian Gate and Sovereign House, as well as a gigabit cwdm wavelength on a fibre ring breaking out in all four data centres.

We have two separate London to Manchester links each on Gigabit Ethernet provided out of two different buildings in London that arrive in two different buildings in Manchester. The two links are provided by separate companies over different national fibre networks for resiliency.

External connectivity providers

• Tata Communications are a Tier 1 provider formerly known as Teleglobe. They operate a global network under AS6453.
• Bogons Ltd are an independent UK ISP that provide Bytemark with IP transit from NTT, Level3 and are members of LINX
• Jump Networks is another independent ISP that provide transit from a mixture of NTT, Level3, KPN/Eurorings and Datahop.
• We also maintain our own peering at the LonAP and Manap for direct connectivity to a number of other ISPs.

Memberships

• Ripe We are members of the Ripe NCC and have our own IP allocations and Autonomous system number which means we are able to route our traffic independently of any one other ISP.

• LonAP which is a not-for-profit London peering point, allowing us access to many other networks at cost price. Our peering policy means that we have the shortest possible route to many nearby networks

• Manap which is a Manchester peering point, allowing us access to many other networks at cost price. Our peering policy means that we have the shortest possible route to many nearby networks

• Nominet We are also members of Nominet, the .uk domain authority, which allows us easy access to name registration services for our customers.
